About the role

You'll provide strong, effective leadership to a residential care home — ensuring high-quality, person-centred care for all residents, with accountability for compliance, staffing, quality assurance and a culture of compassion, professionalism and excellence.

What you'll do

  • Lead the team to deliver exceptional, person-centred care, fostering a culture of kindness, empathy and respect across the home.
  • Ensure residents' care plans are accurate, regularly reviewed and reflect individual needs.
  • Ensure full compliance with CIW/CQC, RISCA and Social Care Wales requirements, leading inspections and responding effectively to regulator and stakeholder feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records and oversee safeguarding, complaints and risk management.
  • Provide clear leadership and a collaborative working environment, supporting supervisions, appraisals and staff development.
  • Liaise effectively with families, professionals and external agencies.
  • Ensure the home is safe, clean and compliant with HSE standards, overseeing audits, maintenance, infection control and emergency planning.
  • Promote a learning culture, ensure all staff complete required training, and engage in leadership development and service improvement.

What you'll need

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience managing a residential care home or similar service
  • Thorough knowledge of CIW/CQC and RISCA standards
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS check, right to work in the UK, and registration with Social Care Wales (for Wales-based roles)

Desirable

  • Experience leading a home through CIW or CQC inspection
  • Understanding of dementia care or other specialisms
  • Experience using digital care planning and rota systems
